JUSTICE PARTY

The Justice Party, established in 1916, aimed to advocate for the rights and representation of non-Brahmins and socially disadvantaged communities. Led by prominent leaders like Thanthai Periyar, the party fought against caste-based discrimination, championed social justice, and worked towards upliftment through educational reforms and reservation policies. The party played a significant role in shaping the Dravidian movement and had a lasting impact on the socio-political landscape of South India.

Thanthai Periyar

Thanthai Periyar, a revered social reformer born in 1879, dedicated his life to combating social inequality, caste discrimination, and gender oppression. As the driving force behind the Self-Respect Movement, he promoted rationalism, atheism, and the elimination of superstitious beliefs. Fearlessly championing social justice, Periyar worked tirelessly to secure the rights and upliftment of oppressed communities while striving to dismantle oppressive social norms. His contributions have left a lasting impact, inspiring transformative change not only in Tamil Nadu but also beyond.

Perarignar Anna

Perarignar Anna, born in 1909, played a pivotal role in the Dravidian movement, advocating for social justice, Tamil nationalism, and self-respect. With remarkable oratory skills, he addressed caste inequality, language rights, regional autonomy. His progressive policies included legalising Self-Respect marriages, two-language policy, and subsidies for essential commodities like rice, improving the lives of the marginalized. His historic decision to rename Madras State as Tamil Nadu affirmed a distinct Tamil identity.

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam

Founded in 1949, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has reshaped the political fabric of Tamil Nadu, standing as a formidable force for social justice and equality. Beyond electoral success, the party has spearheaded pioneering policy reforms, prioritizing vital sectors like education, healthcare, and social welfare. Through proactive and visionary leaderships, the party has uplifted the lives of the people of Tamil Nadu, solidifying its legacy as a catalyst for transformative change in the state.

Muthamizh Arignar Kalaignar

Muthuvel Karunanidhi, fondly remembered as Kalaignar, was a towering figure in Tamil Nadu politics who served as the Chief Minister of the state for five separate terms. He was a staunch advocate of social justice and worked towards empowering the marginalised section of the society and promoting gender equality. He introduced several policies aimed at reducing caste-based discrimination and promoting equal opportunities for all. He was also a prolific writer, poet, and playwright who authored several literary works in Tamil.

Thalapathy M.K Stalin

Honorable Chief Minister Thalapathy M.K. Stalin has played a pivotal role in revitalizing and strengthening the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s influence in Tamil Nadu.
